Black oxide is a conversion coating that causes no dimensional change.
It provides a deep black color and excellent corrosion resistance when used in
conjunction with the proper post dips.
Our black oxiding services are designed to accommodate both high volume and
small production runs. This provides a flexibility of production requirements while
maintaining a strict adhearance to all specifications.
Why Black Oxide?
- No dimensional change. Black Oxide is a chemical conversion
of the existing steel surface thus no metal is removed or deposited.
- Finish will not peel, chip, or rub off.
- Very economical coating to use in conjunction with oils.
- Finish retains substrate’s surface properties, ie., polish
surface retains its gloss and the same goes for hardness.
The Rockwell hardness of a surface is not changed.
- Excellent ability to absorb oils, which improves appearance,
abrasion resistance, and corrosion resistance.
- Finish can be exposed to temperatures of 900 F (482C)
before the color begins to fade.
